BANG! BANG! Goes Sehwag

28 03 2008

After hitting 300The end of day two of first test at Chennai between South Africa and India saw some stunning bating from both the sides. But day three started from where Sehwag left his innings which continued till the end of day three. After being dropped from the Test squad since January 2007, Sehwag’s BALL THIRST BAT made a deadly come back with another triple ton but this time it was South African bowlers who had to face those blows.

“It hurt when I was not in the team so I had to prove myself and I want to get back my seat so that’s why I can concentrate and it’s good for me and I think I’ll continue in the next two tests,” Sehwag said.Sehwag celebrating with Dravid

Analyzing the current situation of the match and also the condition of the pitch (which is a heaven for batsmen so far) the most probable outcome of the match is a draw. But this match saw some world class innings first by Hashim Amla and then by Sehwag who seems to be the Superman of the match so far.Talking about the records now, well Sehwag’s triple ton brought some cool records with it. The deadly knock of 300 came in just 278 balls which is the fastest triple century in the test history. He is the third batsman, along with Sir Donald Bradman and Brian Lara, to pass 300 twice in Test cricket. It is the highest score by an Indian on home soil, exceeding VVS Laxman’s 281 against Australia in Calcutta in 2001.    ”You have to play your shots and maintain your run rate and I think we did a good job,” he added.Despite of the loss of his opening partner, Wasim Jaffer, Sehwag went on playing his style of deadly batting. After Jaffer, Dravid seemed a little uncomfortable in the beginning but kept on going well lately. But the highlight of the show remained Sehwag who continued his thrilling performance to the end of the say with 309 runs in his pocket so far. It would be interesting to see if Sehwag can break the record of Brian Lara of 400 on day four. For now, India is 468-1 in a reply to South Africa’s 540 after the end of the day three. Here is a video of Sehwag’s reaching his 300 milestone of runs. ENJOY!!

A DISASTROUS BLOW FOR INDIAN HOCKEY

12 03 2008

AFTER LOSING……

The 80 glorious years of Indian hockey faced its most shameful moments when India faced a 2-0 defeat from Britain in the qualifying match of Olympics held in Santiago on Sunday night. For the first time in 80 years( since India’s debut at Olympics), the Indian blue jersey men wont be seen running around on the hockey grounds at the Beijing Olympics. NATIONAL GAME TURNS NATIONAL SHAME was found quoted on Hindustan Times newspaper the next morning. No one ever even thought that Indian hockey would have to face these dark days after having won 8 gold medals in Olympics since their debut.

Well, talking about the qualifiers, all the Indian supporters were full of joy when the international hockey federation (FIH) placed team India in a group with only Great Britain as a strong opponent. At that point, India’s place at Olympics seemed to be booked especially after winning the Asia cup. But against everyone’s thinking Indian hockey stumbled throughout the qualifiers. Who might have thought that a professional international team, who just won Asia cup, would play like some school boys running around aimlessly with hockey sticks? The story of poor conversion of penalty corners (short corner), lack of team chemistry and all those basic skills of hockey seemed to be missing with the Asia cup winners not only against Britain but also against all the teams.

The followers of the national game are decreasing day by day as people see more name and fame and of course money in cricket which is doing extremely well compared to hockey and this disastrous act by the players might result in loss of some more fans. But one cannot blame the players alone; the Indian hockey federation (IHF) should get this credit. When asked from IHF head, Mr. K.P.S. Gill, about what is going wrong, he quoted.”I WILL RESPOND TO THESE THINGS AT A LATER STAGE. WE DO NOT HAVE AN INSTANT COFFEE MACHINE THAT YOU CAN GET RESULTS INSTANTLY. IT TAKES TIME TO REGAIN YOUR POSITION. WE HAVE PUT THE PROCESS IN PLACE AND THE RESULTS WILL TAKE SOME TIME.” But one may ask from Mr. Gill, if he don’t have a instant coffee machine, then WHAT KIND OF MACHINE DO HE HAS THAT PRODUCED NO RESULTS IN PAST 15 YEARS OF HIS PRESIDENTSHIP.

Getting up early on the Monday morning, despite of the school in a few hours, and watching India playing (losing) on TV, against the will of my parents, was really heart breaking. As a fan, I don’t want any resignations or something, all I want is that now Indian hockey should take every step possible for the betterment of the game in India. I hope those glorious golden days of Indian hockey may come back in the coming years.

WATCH OUT…………. ITS ANDROID

7 03 2008

Well if you thought that iPhone was a huge revolution in the world of mobiles (like me), then just take a look at the ANDROID. Well for those who don’t know about Android, it’s a mobile phone platform Linux operating system and developed by Open Handset Alliance and GOOGLE. Yes you read it right, it’s Google and therefore it must be BIG. It is based on open operating system so it’s a bit radical.

Well Google understands that there are more people connected to the internet via mobile phones than any other device and so, they want this market and dominate the internet on mobile. The unveiling of the Android platform in November 2007 was announced with the foundation of the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 34 hardware, software and telecom companies.

Coming over to features now, well with the release of software development kit, features and specifications of Android are slowly being released. Android is adaptable to both larger, VGA, 2D graphics library, 3D graphics library based on OpenGL ES 1.0 specifications with SQLite for structured data storage. Talking about connectivity, well it supports a wide variety of connectivity technologies including GSM, Bluetooth, EDGE, 3G, and Wi-Fi. SMS and MMS are available forms of messaging including threaded text messaging. Web browser available in it is based on open-source WebKit application framework. Android will support advanced audio/video/still media formats such as MPEG-4,H.264, MP3 and AAC, AMR, JPEG, PNG, GIF. Android is fully capable of utilizing video/still cameras, touch screen, GPS, compasses, accelerometers and accelerated 3D graphics.

The promise of Android is that you can have a fully customized phone with a cast of millions contributing and writing applications and improvement for it all over the world. Can it out-buzz and out-hype the iPhone? Is this the storming of the final frontier? Will we all be Androised? Well time will tell….

kamal1.jpg

Feeling the pain,

My eyes full of rain,

Want to wash her away from my mind,

But how can I forget? My love is so blind.

She was my dream, she was my destiny,

Wanted to love her till my mortality,

But I saw my dream breaking,

Saw my love loosing

I could see a light in her eyes,

My whole life in her eyes,

Today I cry to see those eyes,

Want to cry, but control the tears in my eyes.

Now sitting alone in the rain,

Letting my tears drain,

Writing down my pain through my pen,

Watching my never ending end………. by- thedudgeon aka kamal
